Kilburn Netball Club   Newsletter   February - 2020   PRE-SEASON FITNESS TRAINING SESSIONS On Wednesday 15th, 22nd and 29th of January, Kilburn ran Pre-Season Fitness Training sessions for those who felt may have needed the extra push before training started. Sessions were run in separate age groups with Under 13s and Under 15s combining, and Under 17s, Under 21s and Grade matching up for the second session of the day.   All sessions started with a combind warm up where attendees worked in pairs. Then stations were set up for players to practice their strength work, balance and agility. Afterwards was a time of stretching and relaxing before getting into a game of Fast 5.    Feedback received from players was all a positive nature. Players particularly enjoyed the Fast 5 game in the end as it gave them a great opportunity to mingle with people who may not be on their team this season.     Kilburn would like to warmly thank Amanda Robertson for organising and running these sessions. Without her brilliant idea, these would not have happened! A big thank you also goes out to the following committee/team members who helped in the sessions with time keeping and running of the strength, agility and balance workshops; Sandy Hniat, Michelle Smith, Rani Milne, Hannah Robertson, Kellie Williams and Landa Papi-Watson.   We are always looking for feedback into our sessions. If players who attended any or all of the three sessions have any nice or constructive feedback for us, please don't hesitate to contact us on our email at kilburnnebtallclub@gmail.com.  OUR TEAMS FOR 2020 A huge thank you to everybody who attended Selections for the 2020 Season! In 2020, we have 26 teams, so we have to supply 26 umpires each week. This will vary if we are short of umpires or other clubs are short of umpires.   PROCESS: The way that umpires are allocated to games is based on many things: - Experience - Level of the game - Weekly performance - Availability - Number of umpires available for each time slot.  Once the umpires have been allocated, the listings are posted on the STNA website on the Sunday or Monday for viewing, and listed on the STNA Facebook page.   NOMINATING PROCESS FOR KILBURN: If you have indicated your interest in umpiring, Ray Donoghue (our umpiring delegate) will text you each week to request your availability for the following week. So for example: Round 1 Wednesday 1 March, you will be sent a text about 10 days prior to round 1 requesting your availability for the round. Your reply may read like this: _Sarah Mills plays 15/2 Saturday at 11:00am. _ _S__arah would like to umpire at 8:40am or 12:10pm. _ Note: All umpires should nominate at least two time slots to avoid missing out on a game. Just because you nominate for a time slot doesn't mean you will always get a game (Refer to above comments).   New umpires in season 2020 will be given an introduction to umpiring over the first few games to provide you with coaching and check on what you have remembered from the season.   Providing one on one coaching to 1st and 2nd year umpires is a big task and some umpires may not get always have an opportunity to umpire during the season. However, if you do get an opportunity you will get 2-3 games to see if you like umpiring and still wish to continue. During these games you will have a coach at the game with you.   Kilburn pays unbadged umpires $10 per game. This is paid every 6-8weeks depending on breaks during the season.   Please note: playing and training with your team mates should always be your priority over umpiring.   CONCERNS OR DISPUTES PROCESS: If you have any questions during the season your first contact is Ray Donoghue, our Kilburn umpire delegate. If you require further assistance with a matter you are asked to contact the committee and follow the Kilburn disputes process. We hope you have a very enjoyable experience umpiring during season 2020. KEY DATES Fixtures are due to come out soon for each age division.
